Claudia Prieto

La Dra. Prieto se doctoró en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC) en 2007. De 2008 a 2011 fue becaria postdoctoral en el King’s College de Londres (KCL). En 2012 se incorporó a la Escuela de Ingeniería Biomédica y Ciencias de la Imagen del KCL como Lecturer (Profesora Adjunta) y fue ascendida a Senior Lecturer (Profesora Asociada) en 2015, a Reader en 2018 y a Full Professor en 2020. Actualmente es Directora de Investigación e Innovación de la Escuela de Ingeniería de la UC y Profesora Asociada en el Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica de la misma Escuela. Es editora adjunta de la revista Magnetic Resonance in Medicine y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la SCMR (Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance). La investigación de la Dra. Prieto se centra en el desarrollo de nuevas técnicas de imagen médica y soluciones basadas en la Inteligencia Artificial (IA), incluyendo la física de la Resonancia Magnética, la reconstrucción y la corrección del movimiento (problemas inversos), y la evaluación clínica de los desarrollos técnicos. El Dr. Prieto ha supervisado a 17 investigadores postdoctorales, 14 estudiantes de doctorado, 12 de maestría y 11 de licenciatura. La Dra. Prieto está muy interesada en colaborar estrechamente con los médicos y los socios industriales para seguir promoviendo la traslación clínica de su investigación.

Dr. Prieto received her PhD from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC) in 2007. From 2008 to 2011 she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at King’s College London (KCL). In 2012, she joined the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences at KCL as Lecturer (Assistant Professor) and was promoted to Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in 2015, to Reader in 2018 and to Full Professor in 2020. She is currently Director for Research and Innovation of the School of Engineering UC and Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the same School. She is Deputy Editor for the journal Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Member of the Board of Trustees for the SCMR (Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance). Dr. Prieto’s research focuses on the development of novel medical imaging techniques and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging physics, reconstruction & motion correction (inverse problems), and clinical evaluation of technical developments. Dr. Prieto has supervised 17 postdoctoral researchers, 14 PhD, 12 MSc and 11 BSc students. Dr Prieto has a high interest in working closely with clinicians and industrial partners to further promote clinical translation of her research.
